When Carlos Eduardo Toledo fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SAO JOANENSE FC's protests and gave Carlos Eduardo Toledo a yellow card for diving instead. After 7 played minutes SAO JOANENSE FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Toledo. With a little luck, SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego got control of the ball when Germano Pernambucano tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Germano Pernambucano got free with Amadeu Lamego in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 11 minutes, Alessandro Meirelles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SAO JOANENSE FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alessandro Meirelles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Meirelles in the 17th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anaia Barba came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Kacper Jaworski in the 29th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by SAO JOANENSE FC's Luciano Duarte. In the 30th minute Horácio Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Intxixu Porregimon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Intxixu Porregimon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elói Cosme in the 46th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alessandro Meirelles to make the kick off. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anaia Barba in the 51st minute of play. SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anaia Barba in the 53rd minute of play. Germano Pernambucano took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amadeu Lamego. Amadeu Lamego dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 57 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Germano Pernambucano came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 59th minute of the match Carlos Eduardo Toledo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Carlos Eduardo Toledo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Ronaldinho Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Intxixu Porregimon made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Horácio Alcântara sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the SAO JOANENSE FC defense, Germano Pernambucano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Amadeu Lamego. The SAO JOANENSE FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Amadeu Lamego should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anaia Barba in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Amadeu Lamego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mexilhão F. C. were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after SAO JOANENSE FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Anaia Barba took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SAO JOANENSE FC's goalie and right to Abel de Lara. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. SAO JOANENSE FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 80th minute, Horácio Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elói Cosme struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Intxixu Porregimon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SAO JOANENSE FC. In the 87th minute, Abel de Lara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amadeu Lamego was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Mexilhão F. C.'s supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
