The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cauã Domingues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cauã Domingues read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Cauã Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, SANTOS F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Vinhas to maneuver through the defense. Facundo Cadaval recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cauã Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 34th minute of play. Valério Rossi kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Neto in the 52nd minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Mexico's Joel Gaona ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cauã Domingues. Cauã Domingues yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. A collision led to SANTOS F.C getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Dalmo Cerezo hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, Durvalino Soeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 74th minute Daniel Portillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodoro Maranhense during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77th match minute, SANTOS F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodoro Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. A hard and well directed shot from Joel Gaona led 90 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-4. The supporters of SANTOS F.C booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Mancebo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Durvalino Soeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mexico walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
