Jose Sanz kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Elivélton Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube de Regatas Flalengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Elivélton Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. In the 59th minute of the match, Nuno Gomes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jacobo Nores was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The Paraguay manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Clube de Regatas Flalengo to win.
