Luiz Fabiano de Sena kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 14th minute, Elivélton Couto made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Amauri Xavier was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Eliseo Noboa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eliseo Noboa really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elivélton Couto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aaron Alcocer's late challenge caught a Clube de Regatas Flalengo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aaron Alcocer helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Clube de Regatas Flalengo getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Nuno Gomes hit a great ball. Luiz Fabiano de Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Arthur Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube de Regatas Flalengo's protests and gave Arthur Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. Amauri Xavier came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig. But to his dismay, Lautaro Puig quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. In the 58th minute, Eliseo Noboa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. The supporters of Clube de Regatas Flalengo booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. In the 70th minute, Elivélton Couto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 76th minute Nuno Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clube de Regatas Flalengo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nuno Gomes in the 78th minute. The supporters of Clube de Regatas Flalengo booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
