Jaime Cazalla might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aron Dahlbom. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. MAFFIAN's Aron Dahlbom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Francisco Seco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Uruguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. MAFFIAN made a substitution. Torgny Mogren replaced Thomas Wassberg. Uruguay's attentive Alberto Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Östen Vennersten made a throw-in in the 63rd minute of the game. Francisco Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Uruguay booed when MAFFIAN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position.
