With a little luck, Renascer's Donato Souza got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donato Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 63rd minute of the match. Edmundo Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Donato Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Horácio Maciel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mexico eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
