Tomas Illescas took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jayson Burnett. After the first half Venezuela were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jayson Burnett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
