Zhuang Hai Xu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play forced DESTROY's goalkeeper Silverio Gonsalve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

DESTROY's 武 Messi was substituted for Faustino Jakes. The wind increased when Armando Maradona made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in DESTROY's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silverio Gonsalve came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zhuang Hai Xu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera had in the 84thth minute some difficulties stopping Zhuang Hai Xu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 85th minute of the match DESTROY got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eriberto Cefero ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on DESTROY's corner Eriberto Cefero fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Silverio Gonsalve threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Silverio Gonsalve successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Silverio Gonsalve came out and tried to block the shot, but Agustín Saelices slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 92nd minute. Cristian Sancho scored 1-4 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Silverio Gonsalve, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
