Christian Goy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 35th minute of play. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrew Tongson in the 36th minute of play. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Ivan Navarro hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 46th minute of play forced Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper Christian Goy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmundo Espiga to strike the kick off in the second half. Khai Choy hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match.
