Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tarcisio Reis got free with Julio Vera in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iustin Bungeanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 25th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Régis de Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 28 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Régis de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After having played for 36 minutes, Iustin Bungeanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iustin Bungeanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Régis de Queirós narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tarcisio Reis hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 47 minutes into the game, Iustin Bungeanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luke Clist to make the kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iustin Bungeanu in the 52nd minute of the match. Régis de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Régis de Queirós read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Régis de Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 89th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luke Clist in the 91st minute of play. José Carlos Simões struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmeiras. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 95th minute. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
