Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. In the 5th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 6th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Palmeiras's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Régis de Queirós came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Leonardo Donato fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palmeiras's protests and gave Leonardo Donato a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Donato to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Waldemar Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joel Gaona was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 14th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luke Clist, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Gaona didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Iustin Bungeanu sent off a good shot on target. Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. In the 46th minute, one of Palmeiras:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Palmeiras. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 54th minute of play forced Palmeiras's goalkeeper Régis de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Despite this Régis de Queirós quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 66 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Régis de Queirós. Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Régis de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Joel Gaona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Régis de Queirós. Palmeiras's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 86 minutes had been played when some careless play by Palmeiras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Régis de Queirós despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Joel Gaona scored 0-3 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Régis de Queirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Simões in the 91st minute of play.
