Through an outstanding action, after 5 minutes, Lautaro Navarro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Atlético Mineiro's zone, Sebastian Villa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Maria Carvalho came out of the goal and Sebastian Villa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute Jude Bellingham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Honduras's Esteban Carvallo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Raí Araújo, made in the 17th minute of the game. In the 17th minute, Dalmo Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmundo Espiga hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Sebastian Villa came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastian Villa couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Maria Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredão da Costa made in the 39th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ernani Mesquita immediately put the ball in play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmundo Espiga to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Edmundo Espiga fired away a shot on goal. Lautaro Navarro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Honduras booed when Clube Atlético Mineiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramón Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Mineiro's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Villa came free, but José Maria Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Clube Atlético Mineiro fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! A sloppy throw-in by Raí Araújo in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Esteban Carvallo. After 72 played minutes Clube Atlético Mineiro got a freekick which was hit by Jude Bellingham. Edmundo Espiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romário Ronaldo in the 80th minute of the match. Lautaro Navarro was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Honduras booed when Clube Atlético Mineiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jude Bellingham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jude Bellingham's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lautaro Navarro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Honduras's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Clube Atlético Mineiro had won, even though Honduras had held more of the ball.
