In the 9th minute, Gottlieb Hammer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karsten Zielinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute of play. Gottlieb Hammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th match minute, Balus Treter was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hannes Esch to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Balus Treter's goalkeeper Karsten Zielinski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gottlieb Hammer's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Gottlieb Hammer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. 26 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balus Treter the free kick. After 26 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Gottlieb Hammer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Primitivo Andino made in the 32nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Agustín Saelices however managed to control. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Karsten Zielinski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Gottlieb Hammer took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Balus Treter's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. 61 minutes into the match, Balus Treter's goalkeeper Karsten Zielinski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. The audience was convinced that Gottlieb Hammer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Karsten Zielinski in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Balus Treter's goalkeeper Karsten Zielinski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gottlieb Hammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Balus Treter was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Bischoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Balus Treter fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
