In the 3rd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Jacob Barroso sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Herberto Caiado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Saúl Campos kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Infante. Lima Team's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herberto Caiado in the 26th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herberto Caiado in the 27th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 36 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Palmeira came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute Herberto Caiado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Horácio Sobral fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lima Team's protests and gave Horácio Sobral a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lima Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Sobral didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Infante was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 45 minutes into the match, Lima Team's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Francisco Infante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Herberto Caiado to strike the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Palmeira in the 76th minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herberto Caiado in the 78th minute of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
