Squadra Demarchi's Richard Moura quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jose Sanz, made in the 13th minute of the game. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kléber Queirós's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute, Claudinho Pinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a free kick in the 18th minute. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Primitivo Escribano hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match.
