After a defensive mix-up in Gracie Barra's zone, Eliseo Mina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falcão Cunha came out of the goal and Eliseo Mina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gracie Barra's Falcão Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 23rd minute of play. Rolando Noboa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Augusto Saldanha's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Augusto Saldanha notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Falcão Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alonso Berganza charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alonso Berganza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Peru's Alonso Berganza got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute, Augusto Saldanha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gracie Barra fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augusto Saldanha to make the kick off. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gracie Barra's goalkeeper Falcão Cunha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 59th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milagros Fraga to maneuver through the defense. Gracie Barra's Falcão Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 63rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Luz Tejedor's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Falcão Cunha was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Peru's Luz Tejedor managed to work through Gracie Barra's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Luz Tejedor dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gracie Barra's Hugo de Queirós was substituted for Jamey Hankins. If Emanuel de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Falcão Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milagros Fraga in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Alonso Berganza hit a great ball. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. After 92 played minutes Gracie Barra got a freekick which was hit by Roland Danielsson. Peru's Eliseo Mina got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the final whistle went the supporters of Gracie Barra were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Peru side.
