An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 13th minute of play forced GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goalkeeper Ioan Papadima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Ioan Papadima got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Alberto Tafalla slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ioan Papadima. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. Joel Gaona was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 21st minute. Mexico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ioan Papadima could save by the left post. A collision led to GoooooooooooooooooooooooL getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Marian Marghescu hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ioan Papadima. Alberto Tafalla showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Ioan Papadima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ioan Papadima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ioan Papadima was a little too slow when Luca Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 3-0. With a little luck, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Ioan Papadima got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 44 minutes into the game, when Răzvan Gugulanu put in a rough tackle. In the 43rd minute, one of GoooooooooooooooooooooooL:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for GoooooooooooooooooooooooL. When the match had been going on for 45 minutes, Mexico's Joel Gaona got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ioan Papadima. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 67th minute. 71 minutes into the match, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Ioan Papadima reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the GoooooooooooooooooooooooL defense, Luca Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ioan Papadima. The GoooooooooooooooooooooooL fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ioan Papadima should have stopped the shot. Ioan Papadima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 83rd minute, Alberto Tafalla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. 90 minutes into the game, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ioan Papadima made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ioan Papadima having to interfere. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
