The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina got a free kick in the 68th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ronnie Hellström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ronnie Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
