In the 15th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Carlisle Schultz quite easily take care of the ball. Fluminense DF's Carlisle Schultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 17th minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Carlisle Schultz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Caio Travassos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Lautaro Mancebo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Carlisle Schultz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aslan Raci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute Alfredo de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great ball. Fluminense DF's Prudencio Goiz was substituted for Ingemar Kilman. After 77 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Facundo Cadaval. Lorenzo Cazalla's late challenge caught a Fluminense DF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lorenzo Cazalla helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Leonardo Leoz hit a great ball. After 97 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Cazalla.
