Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ivan Sjögren firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ted Lööf hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Sjögren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fathoni Andrich, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Ivan Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Sebastián Puig in the 23rd minute of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivan Sjögren quite easily take care of the ball. In the 94th minute of the match Fathoni Andrich sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
