A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Joshua Curbelo hit a great ball. In the 4th minute, Jesus Carvallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Rosario Polk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Allan Wolf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hector Noel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Luque in the 20th minute of play. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rosario Polk in the 27th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rosario Polk in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Zorita saved El Salvador from getting behind. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Wolf in the 39th minute of play. Moises Fernandino kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Moises Fernandino to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Valentino Ferrant got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Brent Weeks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Allan Wolf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 64 minutes into the match, Allan Wolf notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Wolf in the 69th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute, Jesus Carvallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Ricardo Zorita successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With a little luck, El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita got control of the ball when Rosario Polk tried to sneak it across the goal line. Reggie Doran kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Rosario Polk ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Moises Fernandino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hector Noel having to make a save. Rosario Polk's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ricardo Zorita firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 90 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Winners 1988 FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than El Salvador throughout the match.
