Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Nacho Gonzalez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. After having played for 23 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisinho Laguna in the 25th minute of play. After 25 played minutes El Gallo de Moron got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Ihazintu. In the 27th minute, Alberto Tafalla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nacho Gonzalez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel Gaona in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nacho Gonzalez saved El Gallo de Moron from getting behind. After 35 minutes El Gallo de Moron's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. In the 39th minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nacho Gonzalez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Luisinho Laguna sent off a good shot on target. Martin Cubillos hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luisinho Laguna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Mancebo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nacho Gonzalez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to El Gallo de Moron getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Allan Schubert hit a great ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the game, Leonardo Leoz threw the ball into play from the sideline. El Gallo de Moron's Aldo Rico quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Mexico's Joel Gaona suffered a fractured collar bone after 66 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Norbert Kostka charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Norbert Kostka the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A very good opportunity. In the 71st minute Luisinho Laguna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, El Gallo de Moron's Nacho Gonzalez got control of the ball when Facundo Cadaval tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 82 minutes, Luisinho Laguna made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luisinho Laguna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. With a little luck, El Gallo de Moron's Nacho Gonzalez got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Mexico booed when El Gallo de Moron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teofilo Garrote didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mexico's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because El Gallo de Moron had won, even though Mexico had held more of the ball.
