The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tadeusz Raschke in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lev Yashin saved Argentina from getting behind. Poland's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stasio Mbappè in the 4th minute. Stasio Mbappè made a great header on Poland's corner, it was just that Argentina's Lev Yashin managed to reach the ball for a save. When Stasio Mbappè came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Poland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stasio Mbappè couldn't finish the play. The throw-in from Ceferino Nalo in the 11th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Poland's Izydor Plucinik. After 14 played minutes Argentina got a freekick which was hit by Gregorio Urtsin. Stasio Mbappè was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 14th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Kala Mala came free, but Lev Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Nevada in the 23rd minute of play. Tolek Kiszkiel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amado Arotza, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 33 minutes into the game, Amado Arotza threw the ball into play from the sideline. Poland's Kala Mala quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stasio Mbappè in the 35th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Lev Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lev Yashin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stasio Mbappè's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tadeusz Raschke in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lev Yashin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 44th minute of the match Poland got a corner. Argentina's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Stasio Mbappè ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 46th minute, Stasio Mbappè hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benedicto Naelio made a kick off. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Poland from getting a goal against them. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ceferino Nalo in the 52nd minute of play. Tadeusz Raschke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55th minute Stasio Mbappè shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedicto Naelio in the 59th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Tolek Kiszkiel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Stasio Mbappè came free, but Lev Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Argentina's Vicente Nevada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tolek Kiszkiel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Argentina's Samuel Jobo was substituted for Roman Gregory. Poland made a substitution. Beniamin Huk replaced Gilbert Cipinski. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tymoteusz Jajko in the 69th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Lev Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Leonard Winszman in the 70th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Argentina's Fausto Santana. Lev Yashin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tymoteusz Jajko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute Tymoteusz Jajko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Argentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paolo-César Maldini to maneuver through the defense. Lev Yashin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tadeusz Raschke in the 85th minute of the match. If Benedicto Naelio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 90 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Benedicto Naelio came free, but Tolek Kiszkiel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lev Yashin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tadeusz Raschke in the 92nd minute of the match. Argentina were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Poland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Paolo-César Maldini took the corner. After taking down the ball on Argentina's corner Paolo-César Maldini fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tolek Kiszkiel quite easily take care of the ball. The Argentina supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Argentina would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
