Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Jaime Tabor started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play forced Le Stade Briochin UC's goalkeeper Lev Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lev Yashin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. The supporters of Le Stade Briochin UC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Tabor took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Lev Yashin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lev Yashin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Farid Verrecchia was slow to take the kick. During this time Le Stade Briochin UC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Le Stade Briochin UC's Pierre-Louis Eudeline to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
