In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Di Röe's goalkeeper George Kristiansson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 10th minute, Sten Melberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sten Melberg didn't have the luck on his side when he, from a short distance, got a opportunity for a shot on goal in the 12th minute. The shot missed the goal on the right side and Sten Melberg ran dejectedly back to his position. Jens Åkerman kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. George Kristiansson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Malte Hedström's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Malte Hedström helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mexico booed when Di Röe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Malte Hedström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Di Röe's Sten Melberg. But to his dismay, Sten Melberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. George Kristiansson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Sten Melberg kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dante Lacasa. That made the score 3-0 in the 36 minute of play. When Di Röe's Sten Melberg in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. After 42 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Leif Svanström. In the 43rd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Kristiansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. Di Röe's George Kristiansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Di Röe's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but George Kristiansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute Sten Melberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Di Röe's George Kristiansson got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lautaro Mancebo in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck George Kristiansson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 63rd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Kristiansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Luca Rouco got a free kick in the 65th minute. Di Röe's Gerard Tan was substituted for Bengt-Rune Berg. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Arnaldo da Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Arnaldo da Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Facundo Cadaval got free with George Kristiansson in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Joel Gaona slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of George Kristiansson. That made the score 3-1 after 72 minutes of play. If Arnaldo da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Kristiansson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luca Zorita in the 82nd minute of the match. Knut Engström kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Lautaro Mancebo made a precise shot to the right of George Kristiansson. Di Röe's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Di Röe's George Kristiansson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Di Röe from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with George Kristiansson in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alberto Tafalla did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-3 to the left of a surprised George Kristiansson 95 minutes into the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
