İSTANBULLS FC's İlhami Sungurbay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Ahmet Turan Üngörmüş took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. Cristian Sancho scored 1-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of İlhami Sungurbay, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ahmet Turan Üngörmüş's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. İSTANBULLS FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dursun Öztuna in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Zeki İncel could shoot a difficult shot in the 27th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. In a very dangerous position, a player in İSTANBULLS FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! In the 34th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of İlhami Sungurbay. İSTANBULLS FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ahmet Turan Üngörmüş made a kick off. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. İSTANBULLS FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with İlhami Sungurbay in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of İlhami Sungurbay. İSTANBULLS FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. İlhami Sungurbay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. The supporters of Ecuador booed when İSTANBULLS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Turan Üngörmüş didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than İSTANBULLS FC throughout the match.
