The supporters of Jenipapo SC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ediberto Lopes during the 55th minute. Kaká Lopes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute.
