When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilvan Souza made a kick off. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. The audience was convinced that Dráusio Montenegro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Camilo Freixa was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. Bolivia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
