Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roman Gdaniec's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute Girona FC were awarded a corner. Iván Salgado went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Iván Salgado got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Thiago Pliego quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mariano Lacasa scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lastur Murcia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mariano Lacasa took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lastur Murcia. Lastur Murcia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Through an outstanding action, after 25 minutes, Thiago Pliego successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 27th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lastur Murcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 87th minute, David Palau ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Pliego was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Girona FC made a substitution. Kepa Molina replaced Joaquim Lustosa. 90 minutes into the game, one of Girona FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Girona FC:s Lastur Murcia showed great skill when he stopped Mariano Lacasa:s penalty. The Girona FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
