An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmacio Japón in the 3rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dalmacio Japón's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Dalmacio Japón kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aaron Alcocer during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. After 23 minutes of play, አሪዮንዳስ's Hanni Infante made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nereo Serena in the 34th minute of the match. In the 42nd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. After 45 minutes, Lautaro Puig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the አሪዮንዳስ players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Costa Rica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. አሪዮንዳስ were winning 0-2.

The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mon Vadillos was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got his second yellow card of the match in the 72nd minute. The referee ordered Lautaro Puig off the ground. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dalmacio Japón in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hanni Infante, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in አሪዮንዳስ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 93rd minute. Penalty! Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmacio Japón in the 95th minute of play. Nereo Serena was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post.
