Arana Ponta hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabrício Lustosa in the 46th minute. 50 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adolfo Silva was slow to take the kick. During this time Academia Monte Gordo's players had a chance to rest. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Fryderyk Grucza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Fryderyk Grucza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Academia Monte Gordo made a substitution. Kartal Kartalov replaced Pascual Mouricio. Fryderyk Grucza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Academia Monte Gordo made a substitution. Dinei Sergipano replaced Adérito Abreu. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fryderyk Grucza in the 76th minute of play. After 82 minutes, Fryderyk Grucza made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 85th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fryderyk Grucza, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Mao Zhen Hong in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Mao Zhen Hong made a huge save. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
