Criciúma's José de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Luque in the 4th minute of play. With a little luck, Criciúma's José de Brito got control of the ball when Moises Fernandino tried to sneak it across the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Criciúma's goalkeeper José de Brito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moises Fernandino. Didi Almeida's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Zorita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. After 11 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Marco Tamayo. If Tobias Tham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didi Almeida in the 13th minute of the match. In the 19th minute Tobias Tham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Valentino Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abram Luque sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bras Ordoñez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Criciúma's Moisés Pombal got a free kick in the 25th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mateo Leguizamo got free with José de Brito in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 28th minute Lino Rezende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Valentino Ferrant fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Salvador's protests and gave Valentino Ferrant a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Valentino Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobias Tham in the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th match minute, Criciúma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcisio Saraiva to maneuver through the defense. José de Brito made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Abram Luque sent off a good shot on target. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tobias Tham was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Tobias Tham reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ricardo Zorita. The goal made the score 0-2. After having played for 54 minutes, Tobias Tham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Criciúma's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tobias Tham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Criciúma's Ricardo Zorita threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lino Rezende, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 64 minutes into the match, Criciúma's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but José de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Recife kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Ricardo Zorita was a little too slow when Didi Almeida got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 71st minute, Luizão de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abram Luque, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. After 73 played minutes Criciúma got a freekick which was hit by Lino Rezende. After a rather tough play, Criciúma's Valdir Fonseca got a free kick in the 74th minute. Didi Almeida scored 0-4 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardo Zorita, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 81 minutes into the game, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José de Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. In the 84th minute, Valdir Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
