Benito Sanz had in the 21stth minute some difficulties stopping Marco Veremundo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronaldo Fenomeno in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ronaldo Fenomeno scored 4-0 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marco Veremundo ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Fenomeno in the 44th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 50th minute, İslam Mengüalp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Miau Stars's supporters rose to their feet, but İslam Mengüalp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Fenomeno in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st minute, Ronaldo Fenomeno left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Miau Stars fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. Miau Stars made a substitution. Arlindo Queiroz replaced Palmer Akers. Miau Stars's Carlos Eduardo Diniz was substituted for Marco Veremundo. Miau Stars's Jean-Claude Van Damme was substituted for Edmílson Arantes. 71 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Fenomeno notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Miau Stars fully deserved thier win.
