Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Serafin Manni shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Martin Palermo F.C. reached it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Guillermo Izquierdo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. If Giovanni Arósio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Silvio Bazil. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of play forced Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalkeeper Silvio Bazil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiburcio Pepillo during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tiburcio Pepillo hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrico Giammarino in the 30th minute of play. Martin Palermo F.C. were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Serafin Manni took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Enrico Giammarino. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After having played for 38 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Guillermo Izquierdo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Martin Palermo F.C. were awarded a corner in the 49th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Serafin Manni took the corner. After a rather tough play, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Robin Wallgren got a free kick in the 49th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guillermo Izquierdo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Izquierdo in the 55th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Silvio Bazil threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Silvio Bazil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Izquierdo in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovanni Arósio in the 73rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Izquierdo in the 74th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Guillermo Izquierdo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute Giovanni Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Silvio Bazil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Palermo F.C. made a substitution. Sebastián Izquierdo replaced Guillermo Izquierdo. In the 82nd minute, Enrico Giammarino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Martin Palermo F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Silvio Bazil made a huge save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastián Izquierdo in the 92nd minute of the match. In the 97th minute Sebastián Izquierdo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Martin Palermo F.C. to leave the ground with a draw.
