An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 17th minute of play forced Internacional de Lisboa's goalkeeper Qin Ang Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jan Hendrik Saarberg tried in the game's 89th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Qin Ang Cheng. An annoying self made goal, 1-3. USA's Khalid Parry was substituted for Monty Rogers. In the 95th minute, Jiří Mrzena left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Internacional de Lisboa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. USA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
