Shuspendemo's attentive Laureano Fernandes managed to snatch the ball when Alex Chicote made a throw-in in the 26th minute of the game. 28 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Patricio Costa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Melchor Cordaro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Melchor Cordaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jose Correa in the 31st minute of play. The supporters of Shuspendemo booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Secada didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off.
