Stamatis Ifantis came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by 任树振 in the 27th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Stamatis Ifantis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. In the 31st match minute, ERGOTELIS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thodoris Kefaloukos to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, ERGOTELIS's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Stamatis Ifantis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ERGOTELIS's Stamatis Ifantis did a great save. If Thodoris Kefaloukos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Patricio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stamatis Ifantis having to make a save. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. After 45 played minutes ERGOTELIS got a freekick which was hit by Nichifor Juravschi.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell 任树振 to make the kick off. ERGOTELIS's Stamatis Ifantis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 51st minute of play. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 70th minute Evelio Gregory shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ERGOTELIS made a substitution. Babbis Kourentas replaced Evelio Gregory. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Babbis Kourentas, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Babbis Kourentas came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Babbis Kourentas scored 3-0 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
