With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Roman Pitin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristján Kipper in the 7th minute of play. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Roman Pitin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. When Isidoro Sarmiento came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isidoro Sarmiento couldn't finish the play. Panama's Tomas Berganza suffered a sore thigh after 27 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiaguinho de Sousa during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Panama made a substitution. Estefania Rasgado replaced Tomas Berganza. Tiaguinho de Sousa hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathijs Tevreden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 minutes S.C. Potentia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Abraham Alguacil who took care of the corner kick. Mathijs Tevreden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Estefania Rasgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Jose Carita made in the 40th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Isidoro Sarmiento immediately put the ball in play. 45 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Kristján Kipper came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The supporters of Panama booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szczepan Figlewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 54 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Sarmiento. Roman Pitin took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. 65 minutes into the game, Roman Pitin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Marcos Cotilla was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jose Carita hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. S.C. Potentia's attentive Tiaguinho de Sousa managed to snatch the ball when Jose Carita made a throw-in in the 78th minute of the game. The throw-in from Jose Carita in the 79th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by S.C. Potentia's Erik Rensenbrink. In the 81st match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Rensenbrink to maneuver through the defense. The throw-in from Jose Carita in the 85th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by S.C. Potentia's Herbert Gabler. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Pitin in the 87th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Pitin in the 90th minute of the match. After taking down the ball on S.C. Potentia's corner Roman Pitin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Marcos Cotilla quite easily take care of the ball. Miguel Miralles was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 92 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute, one of Panama:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Panama. Panama:s Marcos Cotilla showed great skill when he stopped Roman Pitin:s penalty. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Kristján Kipper kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The S.C. Potentia fans cheered their team off the field, for while Panama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
