Yavuz Selimhan Gulson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of the match. Antoni Camarasa charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antoni Camarasa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Antoni Camarasa kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patric Bierhoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute of the match FC KALELİ got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Antoni Camarasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Nazil Sağlamtürk. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. A collision led to FC KALELİ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Patric Bierhoff hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 26th minute of play forced FC KALELİ's goalkeeper Yavuz Selimhan Gulson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yavuz Selimhan Gulson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Patric Bierhoff ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 35th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patric Bierhoff got free with Julio Vera in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nazil Sağlamtürk in the 41st minute of play. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. A hard shot by Antoni Camarasa from long distance, 46 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patric Bierhoff in the 53rd minute of play. After having played for 58 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yavuz Selimhan Gulson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Patric Bierhoff blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patric Bierhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yavuz Selimhan Gulson was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
