Carlisle Schultz made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Facundo Cadaval sent off a good shot on target. Ingemar Kilman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fluminense DF's Luiz Trigo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Leonardo Leoz, made in the 26th minute of the game. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ingemar Kilman in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Facundo Cadaval reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Carlisle Schultz. The goal made the score 1-0. When Luca Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luca Zorita couldn't finish the play. Carlisle Schultz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 37thth minute of the game Ingemar Kilman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Ingemar Kilman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Ingemar Kilman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Mancebo kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. The supporters of Mexico booed when Fluminense DF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Márton Peterdy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 57 played minutes Fluminense DF got a freekick which was hit by Aslan Raci. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 64th minute of play forced Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Carlisle Schultz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Felix Luque got a free kick in the 65th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caio Travassos in the 70th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ingemar Kilman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dante Lacasa. That made the score 1-1 in the 74 minute of play. Carlisle Schultz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 88th minute of the match. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 90th minute. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Carlisle Schultz quite easily take care of the ball. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Prudencio Goiz sent off a good shot on target. Fluminense DF succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Mexico had controlled the match.
