In the 14th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 18th minute of play. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Villa Mitre City's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Ariel Ponc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ariel Ponc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Saturnino Lehior tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ariel Ponc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 35th minute of the match. Ariel Ponc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Feliciano Fernendo sent off a good shot on target. Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ariel Ponc. Ariel Ponc dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ariel Ponc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Villa Mitre City's Benigno Ibañez was substituted for Chus Insausti. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Mancebo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ariel Ponc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After having played for 55 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 63rd minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Ponc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Facundo Cadaval's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ariel Ponc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Zorita in the 67th minute of play. Joel Gaona scored 1-4 in the 99th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ariel Ponc, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mexico played a much better game than Villa Mitre City and deserved their victory. The Villa Mitre City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
