Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvio Quintun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isaias Sanduru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Natalio Leheren kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emilio Admon. Emilio Admon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 28 played minutes, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emilio Admon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Costa Rica reached it. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Silvio Quintun kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 39th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Ferrant to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvio Quintun in the 44th minute of the match. Natalio Leheren hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andres Raymond in the 52nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 53 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. Emilio Admon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Axel Tasis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emilio Admon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emilio Admon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Silvio Quintun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Silvio Quintun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Villa Gesell's zone, Lautaro Puig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emilio Admon came out of the goal and Lautaro Puig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emilio Admon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Atlético Villa Gesell's Emilio Admon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Alexander Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
