Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Daniel Zorita kicked off to start the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Franco Di Massa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. 10 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Franco Di Massa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 11th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Bergandy's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Franco Di Massa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Franco Di Massa in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bergandy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Felix Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bergandy's Franco Di Massa did a great save. After 14 minutes, Felix Montenegro made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Bergandy's Franco Di Massa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franco Di Massa having to interfere. Franco Di Massa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute. When Luiz Eduardo Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Bergandy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Eduardo Xavier couldn't finish the play. Franco Di Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Bergandy's Andreas Asklöv got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Franco Di Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 34th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Franco Di Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thor Ståhlberg was the one to do the kick off. In the 63rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Franco Di Massa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Franco Di Massa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
