A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Francisco Seco hit a great ball. After 33 minutes of play Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 34th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximiliano Escribano to maneuver through the defense. When Jaime Cazalla came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Cazalla couldn't finish the play. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Vânderson Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Ademir Costa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir Costa in the 45th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ademir Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Palmitos Futebol Clube SC's goalkeeper Washington Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 60th minute, Francisco Seco reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Washington Carneiro. The goal made the score 1-2. Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Palmitos Futebol Clube SC booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Walmir Cunha came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Camilo Covarrubias hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute of the match Kauã Pitta shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vânderson Varela's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vânderson Varela helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Palmitos Futebol Clube SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vânderson Varela didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
