The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's René Higuita. René Higuita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pan Jing Qi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pan Jing Qi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 15 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of René Higuita. Lautaro Mancebo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 17 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Zhou Xiang Li came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thoralf Banke, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Thoralf Banke managed to get in a good position for a shot. ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's supporters rose to their feet, but Thoralf Banke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. René Higuita made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Joel Gaona sent off a good shot on target. 36 minutes into the match, ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but René Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37thth minute of the game Thoralf Banke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's zone, Lautaro Mancebo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. René Higuita came out of the goal and Lautaro Mancebo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Facundo Cadaval fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without René Higuita having to interfere. ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's René Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 47th minute of play.

Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. René Higuita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. René Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 56th minute of play. Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 68 minutes into the match, ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but René Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. 2-1 became the score in the 73rd minute when Zhou Xiang Li elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. René Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute Zhou Xiang Li shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Adalbert Holzner fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's protests and gave Adalbert Holzner a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 87th minute of play forced ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's goalkeeper René Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luca Zorita in the 90th minute of the match. The supporters of ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Rouco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bobby Moths's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Mexico walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
