But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rigoberto Mina charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rigoberto Mina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 43rd minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sydney Baiano to make the kick off. Alex Chicote got a throw-in 53 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Patricio Costa. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 55th minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Vitório Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Baiano might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sydney Baiano ran back to his position shaking his head. Vitório Goiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gavin Giacomozzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Laderoute in the 68th minute of play. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Vitório Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
