Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) In the 2nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. Frederico Negri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Frederico Negri charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frederico Negri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th minute, Frederico Negri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmeira's goalkeeper Ediberto Rossi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Palmeira getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Alain Aznar hit a great ball. After having played for 15 minutes, Mário Saldanha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Saldanha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adhemar Sá's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Jonathan Ferrant skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ediberto Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Palmeira's Adhemar Sá nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 31st play minutes Adhemar Sá shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 38th minute, Adhemar Sá reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 5-1. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adhemar Sá let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 46th minute shot 6-1 at rihgt post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-1 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Illescas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ediberto Rossi. That made the score 7-2 in the 58 minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Sá came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mário Saldanha in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adhemar Sá in the 72nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Sá in the 72nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arlindo Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. With a little luck, Palmeira's Ediberto Rossi got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Sá in the 78th minute of play. The supporters of Palmeira booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Severo in the 85th minute of the match. Alain Aznar made in the 87th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Frederico Negri immediately put the ball in play. Raphael Severo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Joshua Secada fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Joshua Secada a yellow card for diving instead. In the 94th minute, Joshua Secada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute, Arlindo Messias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palmeira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-2. There was no doubt that Palmeira were the better team. Palmeira's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
