The referee ignored FC Anderlecht Huachipato's protests and gave Maximino Astudillo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st minute of the match Mexico got a corner. FC Anderlecht Huachipato's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Luca Zorita advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-4 in the 31st minute. FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Alberto-Federico Acosta was substituted for Baumar Ontanilla. Serbülent Baysan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 65th minute. In the 67th match minute, FC Anderlecht Huachipato was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernán Diaz to maneuver through the defense.
