Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Máté Tamás in the 9th minute of the match. Álmos Tokaji made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Rapid's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álmos Tokaji came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17thth minute of the game Tibor Török who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tamás Fejes during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rapid getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Tamás Fejes hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Tibor Török got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Rapid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tamás Fejes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Álmos Tokaji made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 27th minute. In the 32nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dávid Lányi, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Álmos Tokaji saved Rapid from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álmos Tokaji was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. In the 40th match minute, Rapid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tamás Fejes to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After having played for 61 minutes, Ákos Béres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rapid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ákos Béres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Álmos Tokaji made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 69th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Patricio Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Álmos Tokaji was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 76 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Rapid! Álmos Tokaji had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Tomas Illescas's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 77 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Álmos Tokaji was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Álmos Tokaji tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Álmos Tokaji showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Patricio Costa scored 4-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Álmos Tokaji, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ákos Béres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tamás Fejes was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 93 minutes had been played. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Rapid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tamás Fejes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 97 minutes into the game, Rapid's Tibor Török nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Venezuela walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
