With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when 白诚树 tried to sneak it across the goal line. 白诚树 came free with the goalkeeper in the 17th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 潘弘兴 having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell 白诚树 to make the kick off. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 白诚树's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 64 minutes play.
